Grief Recovery

Losing a person who is dear to us, either by death or their walking out of our life, or losing something as necessary to life as our health, our job, or a friendly pet can be a life altering experience. It is important at those times to be gentle with ourselves and to do the work we need to do to complete the grieving process.

Loss comes in two basic ways:

  • Immediate — like being blindsided by a train, or your spouse taking all the money and leaving you for another.
  • Over time — like the death of a loved one after a long illness, or two people who drift slowly apart.

Both are loss experiences with varying degrees of emotional intensity.

Grief is like the weird friend who shoots you in the foot to keep you from killing yourself. It is a healing emotion that allows us to experience our heartache in manageable chunks.

The Grief Recovery Workshop is a 12 week program that will guide you through the grief process. The workshop is not intended to be a cure-all, as grief is an ongoing process, but it will jump start you on the path of recovery and equip you to handle subsequent grieving experiences in a more empowered way.

Following are some of the things which are addressed:

  • Myths about grieving
  • Dealing with insensitivity
  • Short term emotion relievers
  • Your history with loss
  • Grieving a whole person — the good and the bad together
  • Forgiveness
  • Saying the unsaid

The environment is safe and confidential. Call for more information.
